What needs a permit

• The Village requires a permit for new construction, renovations, additions, alterations and repairs, obtained before any work begins.

How to apply

• Apply through the Village's online permit portal, where you upload plans, pay fees, message staff and track the review.
• Once approved, you download the permit placard and approved plans from the portal.
• Contractors register with the Village through the same portal.

Inspections

• Every approved permit needs inspections, except residential fences.
• Request inspections at least three business days ahead by calling the Building Division. They are scheduled first come, first served.

• From January 1, 2027, permit submittals must meet the 2024 International codes and the 2023 National Electrical Code, with the Village's amendments.
